Charles T. Ross

Charles served on the USS Philip DDE-498 during the Korean Conflict and spent many days off of the Korean peninsula shelling and providing support for ground troops. Charles said that some days they would blow up bridges and the facilities of the North Korean, a week later, after thousands of Chinese working like ants, would rebuild the bridge, and they would just have to go back and bomb all over again. The USS Philip made two Korean War deployments to the Far East, once in 1951 and again in 1952-1953, taking part in escort, patrol and bombardment operations.
