NO GREATER MEN HAVE I KNOWN, LESS IT BE MY FATHER

Pictured here is Glynn Ross (the man behind the web site) Bill Soltaro and Caesar Chavez. For many years during the 60's and 70's these 3 men worked very hard to represent the poor working people in this country. Bill Soltaro who is probably one of the greatest Labor Union representatives that Glynn has ever met. He has very clear memories of WWII and his landing on the beaches of Normandy and many other battles. Bill says he cannot and will not support any political candidate that does not wholeheartedly support our troops. Support means not only not politicising the war efforts, but their support in the senate and or congress for funds needed for pay raises and much needed high tech equipment.

Many Years Ago
By Glynn Ross

Many years ago I met and worked with these two young men, Bill Soltero & Caesar Chavez. Bill was a young man that had a dream of someday the entire country would have a Workers Federal Safety Law. An Occupational Safety and Health Law, one that would be far reaching and educate the employers and management, in general, of human responsibilities toward giving all workers a safer place to work. Those in the fields, on construction, in the factories, and all work places, this entire country. Caesar Chavez dreamed of a Farm Workers Union for all those migrant workers, illegal and domestic families that some times traveled to seasonal work. Or those who lived in the tractor garage or part of a barn or some kind of makeshift housing. Many times the children were born in the fields or on the road during travel. In a garage some people laughed at Caesar and thought he had lost his mind. He wanted the National Labor Relations Board to certify a Farm Workers Union, some of us cried because we knew the need for such a dream to be fulfilled. Others hated him for trying.

When Bill first told me about his friend Caesar, and his dream, Bill asked me to meet Caesar. He took me to Guadeloupe, Arizona, not far from where I was raised. Caesar had an old school bus with about a dozen people in it and he said he was on his way to New York City to start a lettuce boycott. He had no money to eat or feed his people and no gas to get out of town, let alone to get to New York. Caesar told me about the DDT and chemicals being used by the farmers and he told me of the things he had found in the labor camps. The extremely high rate of cancer, lukemia and stillbirth and deformity among children. How the company doctors blamed it on every thing from allergies to family cultures. Caesar was sure it was because of a lot of the insecticides being used. He had approached the farmers and they would laugh and ask about his stupid assumption and question his knowledge of such scientific and medical things.

Caesar was relentless in his pursuit. He knew this was also causing unsuspected deaths and illnesses among the public that was consuming these products that had been treated with these chemicals. As I looked into this mans eyes I seen meaning, trust, dedication and determination. I hugged him and gave him $76.00, all that was in my pockets. I know because my wife had given it to me to pay our electric bill that day. As Caesar drove away, I knew he would stop by the fields and get more food along the way. I also knew they would have to stop and work to earn more gas money to get to New York. As years went by, we met often and Caesar became my good friend. In fact, Caesar was on his way to Hawaii and be with my wife and President Bill Clinton's Mother at a cancer benefit.

He was going to receive a life award for his work in exposing cancer causing agents in food products. The award was to be presented by President Clinton's Mother when I got a call because Caesar had passed away near Yuma, Arizona. Bill and I have remained friends for years, and talk and spend time together when we can. Bill and I went on and accomplished many things for our respective labor unions and both became known on a national basis.

Now for seven years I have pursued the illegal shipments of adulterated food products that are coming into this country, making a lot of people sick and causing deaths. Only to the thanks of a few political leaders such as Arizona Senator John McCain, have we made headway. We have an ongoing investigation with the help of several federal agencies. I am deeply concerned we have had a much quieter, secretive 9-11 going on in our food industry and it i taking far to long to expose. Seven Long Years!
